Mercedes-Benz unveils new electric car EQE and AMG EQE

The EQE is a brand new electric sedan that combines many of the ultra-luxurious EQS technologies in a smaller and cheaper body. In this sense, it is an alternative to the likes of the Tesla Model S, although its range is 410 miles. That sounds good? Well, here's everything you need to know about it.

The new Mercedes EQE is very similar to the larger EQS. Visually, the headlights are a little shorter and have more angular daytime running lights, but the dimmed plastic grille is just as very similar as the air intakes on each side of the bumper.

The EQE on the outside looks just like the EQS until you get inside - it looks almost exactly like Mercedes' new ultra-luxury electric car. Ok, there are a few differences. The steering wheel is new, the seats are with different stitching, but nothing more ...

The EQE's wheelbase (front-to-rear wheelbase) is 90mm shorter than the EQS, but its cabin is 80mm longer than the regular E-Class sedan, so it should still feel very spacious inside. The shoulders are 27mm more room than this car, and the seats are 65mm taller to provide more leg support.

But there is a problem for those who like to haul sacks of potatoes in their premium electric vehicle. The EQE's 430-liter boot is approximately 110 liters less than the boot in the E-Class Sedan - even 25 liters less than the boot in the C-Class Sedan.

The Mercedes EQE comes standard with a dual-screen infotainment system like the entry-level EQS, with a 12.3-inch display for the driver and a 13-inch touchscreen in the dash.

You cannot charge it as quickly as the batteries in the larger EQS. This vehicle is compatible with powerful 200 kW fast chargers that can extend the range by 190 miles in just 15 minutes. EQE limits power to 170 kW fast chargers.

Mercedes hasn't said much about the performance of the new EQE, but has confirmed that it will be the first to market the rear-wheel-drive 350. It uses a single engine at the rear that develops 292bhp. and 530 Nm of torque. The Mercedes EQE has many features that should make driving very relaxing. First, Mercedes covered all batteries and motors with special foam to neutralize noise and vibration, and tuned the EQE body to reduce wind noise, just like the larger EQS.

The new Mercedes EQE is likely to go on sale in 2022. Mercedes has yet to say how much it will cost, but it will likely cost you about the same as the high-end Mercedes E-Class, with around $ 83,000. As with the EQS, Mercedes can set you back around 110,000.
